Dr. Dana West

I am honored and humbled to be the principal at Travis Middle School. Our kids and families are the best. It is my pleasure to go to school each day in order to learn from and to serve our kids.

Every year, I write my declaration for the year. By making a declaration, I am promising to focus my time and effort in order to make a positive difference. Here is what I wrote this year:

Before a breakthrough can occur, there must be a declaration. One must take a stand, and with laser-like focus and clarity, determine what ACTIONS must precede goal attainment. Here are my promises to the staff and students of Travis Middle School:

  • Our curriculum will be to the depth and rigor of the TEKS. Collaboration time will be focused on designing formative assessments which will, in turn, strengthen our curriculum and instruction.
  • Travis Middle School is my first choice and my actions and words will reflect that. My efforts will prove that I truly believe in the power of the professionals at Travis to positively impact our students’ success. Our students will know that I care enough about them to hold them and myself accountable.
  • I will confidently address areas where our school must improve. I will act with integrity, kindness and honesty. This action will require forthright conversations with individuals and teams.

Again, I am honored to be the principal at Travis. Please let me know if I can serve you in any way.
